What is HR 3598?

This bill would require military service for all men between the ages of 18 and 22 who do not meet a narrow set of criteria that would exempt them from the service. This is a military draft, not very different from the kind that sent thousands to Vietnam, often against their will.

Except as otherwise provided in this section, a person inducted as a conscript or accepted as a volunteer pursuant to this Act shall receive basic military training and education as a member of one of the armed forces for a period of not less than six months, but not more than one year, as established by the Secretary concerned.(taken directly from the bill, HR 3598, on thomas.loc.gov, an online legislative webisite.)
